My other downstairs neighbor was found dead in his apartment a few days ago and apparently had been for weeks. People are suspicious because it appears that somebody didn't want other people knowing he was dead until the last possible minute. I can't say too much about it, but this town is known for getting hot during an election year, but this seems to be an awfully early start to it.

No, but you don't have to be to get on the shit list here. The last election, both city court clerks "commited suicide" within two days of each other while an election result was in despute. They did say that one of the deaths was under investigation, but the story just disapeared from the news. The guy contesting the election conceeded shortly after the second "suicide."

Wow....
This wasn't Sean Penn's brother by any chance?

Nope. Chris Penn probably overdosed, but they will probably stay silent about that.

I wouldn't doubt that. I know the Penn family was asking the media to respect their privacy....hmmm I wonder why

Well, in all fairness, they should allow celebreties more privacy than they do. I chose fiction writing over music long ago simply because if you make it in music, you lose your privacy, but most people can't name five contemporary writers.

I agree that celebrities should more privacy but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Hate to hear abt your neighbor. Very scandalous. Wonder what the mob would say if ever questioned....
As for Chris Penn's death, sounds a lot like the death of Eddie Guerrero to me. Too much drugs and alcohol caught up to him over time or a big OD. But as long as they are in the spotlight the media won't ever leave them be. Y do you think we have teenage movie stars/celebs running around in a size 00 pant that is too big for them cuz they are nothing but skin and bones at 88 lbs or less. Cuz that is what Fame does. It creates a false appearance in their minds of how they should be in the spotlight. And it leads to eating disorders, drugs, alcohol addictions, and early deaths. Shoot look what happened to Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, River Phoenix, Curt Cobain just to name a few. So so sad what being in the public eye all the time can do to you.

These problems are common in all walks of life. The difference is that if you develop an eating disorder, not too many people will know about it. The same is true of a drug problem. The people closest to you will know, but chances are not many other people will. When a celebrity has such problems, everybody knows. They can't escape the loaded questions and the snide remarks because most everybody knows them on sight and knows what's going on with them. They have gated communities so that they can at least live normally behind the gates, but in my mind, it's better to be poor and obscure than rich and famous. If I can manage rich and obscure; hell yeah! That would be good, but being famous sucks.

I agree with the part about celebs and the media vs. their personal lives. But even in eating disorders are noticable in the "everyday Americans" I promise, the word Eating Disorder will be the first thing that crosses your mind when you see a person who is (extremely emaciated) walking down the street. Its those individuals that gain weight rapidly and then lose it rapidly that its hard to tell.
I speak from experience on this. My best friend in high school suffered from anorexia nervosa and bulimia for many many years. What's funny is with the anorexia you could tell just by looking at her. But when she gained weight back, she still suffered from a false perception of herself so she turned to bulimia and was able to hide it from her family and friends much easier than her anorexia.
disfference was with her anorexia it was the physical change that gave her away, even to perfect strangers. with her bulimia, she never lost near the physical weight that she did with anorexia.
Anyhoo, I do agree with ya on the last sentence of your post. If I could cope with everything mentally and emotionally and be rich, Hell Yeah I'd do it to, otherwise I'm content just being a normal everyday person.

I feel that sometimes in the newspapers or on Televison they take celebrity deaths way too far.
