Ofcourse you see his anger issue here. You listed off many things that are putting him through stress and this is not helping. What he needs is the proper space to figure things out. He needs to have the space to settle the lawsuit, surgrey, ect. He does however need someone like you to be there and talk to him and comfort him. You have needs also and if this anger is getting to you way to much then just back off. what you dont wanna do is add to the fire because it will just make it worse. You know he is going through a tough time and time, patients, and space maybe the best possible answer to this.
Can I ask....what are you bringing to the table in this relationship? If he's your whole world, then maybe your world is lacking other outlets.
If he's your whole world and he sees that, then you're just adding to his pressure. For some reason he's viewing you as a burden and that's why he's snapping on you.
If you were an equal to him in this relationship and someone that he could go to and talk about things, then maybe he wouldn't say what he says to you.
Nobody should be your whole world. You should have a world of your own and just wish to let someone else share it with you.
Ask yourself this. Are you someone that your BF can go to for solace, comfort, conversation, advice and as a sounding board, or are you just another emotional burden to him? Are you helping him or just adding to his burden. IMO it sounds like that if he's your whole world, then you're emotional neediness is just more pressure on him.
IMO, that's why he's probably snapping on you.

I think you need to step back and take a break. First of all he has no right to yell at you tell you he hates you, call you a etc. When he said sorry he obviously didn't mean it since he didn't change anything, he continued to yell and berate you.
Secondly, you need to have your own friends again. Your own interests. You guys need to at least give eachother some space. It is not a healthy relationship for anybody involved, you, him, his daughter, to have him screaming at you, and then you crying all the time. You deserve to be happier.
