I think I am one of those types of people that worries about my partners needs and those around me more then my own hapiness. My friends tell me that I need to make myself happy first and love myself first, but how do i do that, yet still get the love from the person i care about? I dont want to do things to upset her, but i do have my own hobbies and she thinks they are boring. So when we spend time together (all the free time we both have) I dont have time for just me and my hobbies. How do i love myself and make myself happy first without hurting those around me, i really care about them.

As a mother of 3, I can relate to what you say. I always worry about the needs of everyone. I'm prepared to go to any lenghts to make everyone happy.

My oldest son told me off once for not taking enough me time. That was a good wake up call.

How do i love myself and make myself happy first without hurting those around me, I really care about them?

If you don't make yourself happy, how on earth will you be able to make your loved ones happy?

You will not hurt anyone by having some me time. You don't need to be away all day. Sometimes a long warm bath does it for me. Or a good book. I take Pilates once a week. Some weeks I need less me time. Other weeks I need more. My me time usually involves other people too; friends, and loved ones. Nothing I like better than having a friend over for coffee and a good convo. I like spending time alone with each of my children. When I go out with my friends, kids get to spend quality time with their dad, which is great. They need time off from being with mom all the time too.

Being selfish is not being there for your loved ones when they (really) need you.

What do you think?

This goes in part of your other threads about this women and you have to realize that sticking up for yourself is the only key. You've done that allready but you have to do more or continue more. She has controlled your actions and thinking....it really shows up here. The only real change is to make a change.
