Teen, not knowing what to do...

sry if it's real long, but do try to help me out...

my friend, a girl, tried to hook me up with a guy she knows. well we started talking on the internet and we made friends, but back then that guy had a gf. now he does not. well were still talking and he told me why they broke up, well i kind of like like him and he has hinted about going out but not that much, and when he would hint i would just laugh it off, afraid to address the elephant in the room. well, one day i changed my status to: going to e-town (a shopping place). and in a message he says randomly, jokingly, that he'll bomb e-town tomorrow, while i'm up there. but after that he says that only one thing will stop him from bombing e-town, if i bought him a birthday gift. well i knew he liked cats so i told him i would buy him a plush kitty, but then he wrote back saying "lets not be hastful, i'll bomb e-town otherwise" thats the sentence that doesnt make since to me...anywho, i did buy him a plush kitty (hello kitty, to be exact) is that too soon? i mean i do want him to take the hint that i might want to go out with him, but i dont want to come on too strong...u know what i mean?

Stop the hinting game and just go for it before you lose out on the opportunity. In other words, just ask him out.

I agree with Eightball; just ask him out. Also, a plush kitty is a more appropriate gift for a girl. I know he likes cats, but in general, buying stuffed animals for guys isn't a good thing to do. He might like the thing for all I know, but usually it's better to buy a different type cat gift.

ask him out but be aware, he will continue to make friends on the internet even if you start to date all the time and when he breaks up with you, he will have a new GF quite quickly.
