At what age do you think a child is old enough to stay home a few hours by themselves?

Good Question: I would say 14 or 15 but really depends on the maturity of the child. I am not a father yet so I can't really make that decision but this is my opinion to start and I will see once I do have a child. Maturity and trust are the two biggest players I see for this one.

My 9 year old sometimes comes home from school and is home alone for a couple hours until we got home from work. It is fine. He isn't afraid to do it and we had given him specific instructions about answering the door, etc.
