Hello,
Brief description of relationship
Past:
I am 29 male. Me and my girl friend were together for 4 years back home. All of a sudden I got to a graduate school in the US and she got to the UK. Our plan was that she would transfer or move to the US in couple of years so that we can get together and engage. Due to lots of problems, she didn't make it to the US and she is going back to our home country and I have to stay in the Us to finish my degree in the next 3 years.
Back home, we never had a major problem and we always maintained a good relationship based on mutual understanding and honesty. Since we have been apart, we would always be in contact. But you know, we would have less and less things to talk and share.
Present:
I am not feeling good to say this, but I have to be honest. In the past couple of months, I have been close to a girl in my school. We have developed a relationship and she exactly knows my long-distance relationship. While she doesn't put any pressure on me to break up, she wants to know what my plan is. She is right and I feel very bad now.
Future:
As I have been with that girl for a long time (partially local and partially long-distance) and we never openly discussed the possibility of breaking up, I have a hard time figuring out how to solve my problem. I know that the best way is to be honest, but I am extremely worried about hurting her.
It's not that I don't like her, I just don't see any chance to get her here in the US, due to lots of problems that we both understand.
I know this is not enough description and I don't expect to find a solution right away, but I would appreciate if you could help me approach this problem.
many thanks,
Rira
