View Full Version : Should I try and date a friend?

Hello :D
I'm an 18 year old senior in high school. I've been friends with this girl pretty much since 5th or 6th grade. There hasn't been much attraction until now, but things seem to have changed. We spend more time playing tennis together, doing things in clubs, talking during our free periods (almost every day during first semester) and going to daces in a group (not as a couple).

We talk about relationships mainly her past rocky one which was bad, and she's went over what she looks for in a guy (which I meet most of the requirements) etc. However recently we've been spending a lot of time together building a robot in robotics club. And she's started hip checking me, and we've been going alone together to our theater shop to cut parts and we have almost flirty conversations; plus she acts kinda "flouncy" around me.

Am I totally miss reading her?
I don't want to ruin our friendship, but I don't want to miss this opportunity.

Please help me!!!!!

P.S. We are going to play tennis together this weekend, and she seemed REALLY excited about it...does that mean anything?

It sounds like she's thinking along the same lines. Why not invite her to a nice restaurant and see what she says. Some people think, once a friend always a friend, but that's not always true. From what you wrote, she seems to be on the same page you are. You might want to just come out and say, "wanna date?", but that's riskier than inviting her to a restaurant. Inviting her to a restaurant is a safer way to further things along. But you could probably play it either way.

I'll see how our upcomming robotics competition goes and I'll take it from there.

It seems to me your friend is into you. I hope she is I am a little late on reading this. How did the tennis thing go? I dont think going out would hurt anything, if you two can handle it not working if it didnt. then go for it :)

The tennis thing didn't happen yet =/

I got out of a cast 3.5 weeks prior to posting my origional message and my PT girl said no tennis for another 2.5 weeks, now another 1.5 weeks >.>
