I am considering having my bridesmaids' dresses be black. Here are my reasons:
*There isn't really any color that is appealing to me that much. Blue and purple are my favorite colors, but I'm not sure I like the idea of a bunch of bridesmaids in either of those colors. I'm thinking black dresses with little blue or purple flowers in their hair and blue and/or purple bouquets.
*Black dresses will just make it so the whole wedding party is black and white, it just matches with the tuxes.
*The girls I want to be my bridesmaids all have very different body types and each of them lives in a different state. Therefore, instead of trying to get everyone to agree on the same dress (and get it to each of them), I would prefer to let them pick out their own dresses--I will just give them a color. Being able to choose their own dresses will make the day more fun for them and allow them to pick something suiting to their body type and budget (one of them has very little money, and the other two would also prefer not to drop a lot on a dress), plus if they choose it then they will like it and be able to wear it again. Black would be the easiest color for everyone to match.
*I am going to do my own flower arrangements for centerpieces, bouquets, and any other decorations needed. Basically, this means I am going to go to the florist at the grocery store a day or two before the wedding and buy up a bunch of flowers, so it's pretty much whatever I can find right then. With black dresses, I won't have to try and match them to anything.
*I think the idea sounds a lot worse than what it really ends up looking like. Check out this picture:

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Think it's totally inappropriate? Have other suggestions?
