I would really like some other opinions about this situation. I'll try to keep it short...
I was with my ex for nearly 12 years. I've been with my new bf for a little over 7 months. My ex and I had a dog. I raised her from when she was tiny, and was with her through several surgeries, seizures, and blindness. She just turned 12 years old. Obviously, I am very very attached to her.
When my ex and I split, we agreed that we would take turns with her.
My current bf, has huge issues with this. He doesn't want me to see or have any contact at all with my ex. I understand that, but that also means that I don't get to see my dog. I've only seen her a few times since we've been together, and I miss her terribly. My bf tells me that I just don't understand what a relationship is supposed to be like. Today he told me. F your ex, F your dog, and F you. He says our relationship is like a train, and the chains of my past are holding it back.
Am, I wrong for wanting to see my dog???? Even if that means that I have to see my ex briefly.
