Around labour day weekend, we are planning on driving to Vermont. Never been there before, does anyone know any good places to see/stay? We'll probably have 2-3 days there, plus one in NH, and we are going to the Portland area for a night in Maine.

We are coming over on the CAT to Maine, then driving through NH, to Vermont.

I can't really seem to find much info on places to see....

Try vermontvacation.com to see what the state offers. I have have never vacationed there but driven though once. It looks like a nice state but I really don't know what they have to offer for tourism.

If you come through the Portland are then I can help you out there since I live like 20 minutes away. Let me know what you are looking or wanting to do and I can give you names to some places or activities.

Have Fun :)

I've been to Portland a few times. I think we are going to take in Freeport, and maybe go to the Portland Mall. That's going to be the "shopping" section of our trip.

Thanks for the address, I'll check it out. :)

Freeport or Kittery would be the best shopping places. The Portland Mall is an ok place to shop but if you been there before then I would suggest the outlet’s in Freeport or Kittery.

We'll probably do both. I've never heard of Kittery?

Funny Story-last time I went to Portland, was like 4 years ago with my family. We decided to go into the Portland Mall (it was like 6:00pm on a weekend), and we get there and there is NO ONE in the mall besides store staff & mall workers, no other shoppers. We couldn't believe our luck that we got the whole mall to ourselves, lol. So we shop for about an hour or more then go to the cash in one of the stores and the cashier tells us like 2 hours before they had a big bomb threat and evacuated everyone. Well no wonder no body wanted to shop there that evening, lol. Anyways, I think we'll try it again this year.

That is a very funny story :) At least you are safe, right? ;)

Kittery shopping malls are slightly bigger than what Freeport has to offer. They both have basically the same stores but Kittery has a few other outlet’s to choose from. Then after a day in Kittery you can go to the next town over(Ogunquit) where they have really nice beaches and fine dinning along the Route 1 strip.

Have you ever visited Nova Scotia?

Nova Scotia?

I did once in High School. My chorus class traveled up to Great Britian for a concerts called the Suase Festival(something like that). I had fun & it was beautiful up there. I want to back some day but I don't know when.

You must mean Cape Breton? Yea it is nice there. I've only been there once too. I live on the south east coast, so it's like 7 hours away.

I've never noticed, well I guess i did but never paid any attention, how close Nova Scotia is to Maine until recently. A friend of mine is thinking of going to school there, so we were "planning" how often we could see each other. It's like an hour to the CAT ferry, then 2 to 2-1/2 hours on the ferry to Maine. So that's not bad. Just about the same if she had went to school other places in the province.

Sorry....lol I did mean Cape Breton :p

We are practicually neighbors but a lot of hours apart. I love here though.......Many people want to get out of their home state but not me. :D I am willing to visit other areas but I am adjusted to my state & thats why I don't think I can ever move from it.

What college is your friend going to?
