I live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and we had a bit of weather on the 27th. I can't complain. My power was out for a couple of days and it would be Saturday before my frige would get back to normal, but the tornado didn't effect me that much. Areas of the town look like bombs went off. Alberta City, also known as Gangsterville, is about gone as are a number of neighborhoods. There's about a six mile long path of destruction that can be seen from space. I can now say that I've seen a tornado in real life, but I don't care to see another one. That thing was headed straight for my apartments when it changed direction. someone said it changed direction several times, but kept to a notheast general direction. Anywway, we probably won't see another one that bad here in my lifetime. When my wife was alive, I would tease her on days we were expecting bad storms. "When the tornado comes, go outside, nag the tornado and it'll turn around". I don't think she particularly liked that joke. Anyway, I got through the tornado okay.

Most places have at least some potential for a disaster and we probably won't have another one that bad for another 40 years. The southeast is terribly backwards and corrupt, but you get a long growing season here.

I don't remember New York having a tornado.

True enough, but New York is a bit too far north for me.
