Well . . . On friday it is my beautiful womans 23rd celebration of Birth. I have some very nice things planned but she has already suggested she just wants something simple and nice. I have some simple and nice thigs planned. She's been HEAVILY stressed lately and she already said just seeing me and spending time with her when I go up to see her will make her birthday. So naturally being the person I am will go beyond that. I have a nice hotel room for us, I'm going to take her to get her hand and feet done/massaged (she needs it bad). The Cherry topper of the evening will be in our hotel room. She loves when I cook for her so I will cook a lovely birthday meal for her.

My question begins here. WHAT DO I COOK? I know he tastes in food, she doesnt really have a wide palate nor is really open to new flavors (I'm quite the oposite) I know she loves shrimp, so making shrimp is a no brainer. I want to make something she hasnt had before but will definately enjoy. I've thought about shrimp scampi but she's had it before, loves it but I would like to try something new, I'm going to search online for shrimp dishes but nothing beets actual feedback from people. Anyone have a good shrimp dish recomendation? and a recepie for it?

Thanks.

I would stick to a dish that she said she loves. Shrimp scampi is easy to make but it's still a lovely dish to eat. What you are planning sounds like she will have a good time and you need to take that into consideration. You want to keep to a dish that you know how to make. If you want things to go perfect then I see no point in trying to make something you never made before because it may not come out the way you want it to.

I can't think of any other shrimp dinners at this time but I will look around online for you tomorrow. Personally, I think it be best you keep to this plan and making a dish you know she already likes. You have a wonderful night planned and the last thing you want is messing up a dish you never made before.

you make a good point, That is a worry that is in the back of my head, if I make something new and it doesnt turn out how I want it to, I'm kinda screwed. I'll stick with the scamp, get a nice appertizer in there, dress up like a Waiter with the towel over one arm, pour her a glass of wine, the experience should be lovely.

Thanks.

You are now giving me ideas for doing something special with my GF lol :p

For an appertizer you could get some jumbo shrimp & sauce.......

It does sound like she will have a nice time and I wish you luck ;). Don't stress if something doesn't go right. Try to enjoy your time with her and that's all it counts. Please let us know how it all goes :)

Jumbo shrimp is a good idea, she has complained about small ones at various resturants she's/we've eaten at.

Glad your getting some idea, I will post back after I return.

Well I must say the weekend was amazing.

It all went well she loved the food I made, we had gotten into an argument the next day but recovered from it quite nicely ;) It was an amzing weekend and we had an excellent coversation planning for the futre.

What I cooked. . .

Talapia Fish well seasoned (Baked)
In a wok lightly seasoned some shrimp, then let sauteed in alfredo sauce. The shrimp and alfredo sauce poured over the talapia fish.

wild rice, side of broccoli, and a jumbo baked potatoe.

Brought her to the living room where I set the table with a nicely prepaired salad with candles lit and rose pedals scattered on the diner table for an elegant look.

Thanks all again, the weekend was wonderful, was just the breath of fresh air we needed.
